Robotics Camp

Design, build and code a simple robot

Kids
SUMMARY

The Robotics Summer Camp offers a dynamic journey into the capabilities, applications, and underlying principles of Computer Science. Computer science is very important to the success of our students in the current digital world as it is in virtually every area of academic study. This camp is designed to inspire creativity and collaboration among participants, providing a solid foundation in computer science and problem-solving skills.

To maximize potential learning opportunities, students need to be met where they are developmentally. Students can be successful regardless of their prior computer science knowledge. Students who have had previous block coding experience will find opportunities to grow with open-ended challenges as well as various coding strategies.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED
  • What is a robot?
  • Improving a design
  • Troubleshooting and debugging
  • Testing and evaluating a solution
  • Sensors
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

By the end, students will develop and build models that use motors, sensors, wheels, lights, and sounds. They will utilize various programming techniques including writing pseudocode and comments, using conditional statements, loops, as well as linear and computational thinking and debugging. Students will apply their knowledge to varying guided and open-ended problems that will culminate in a final challenge presentation.
